A globally recognised architectural practice with expertise spanning architecture, masterplanning and urban design is seeking an experienced Senior Urban Designer to join their Masterplanning and Urban Design team.
With studios across the UK and internationally, this large-scale practice has established itself as a leader in creating innovative urban environments, working on transformational masterplanning and placemaking projects worldwide.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead diverse masterplanning, urban design and public realm projects across the UK and internationally. You'll combine strong conceptual thinking with strategic urban design leadership, guiding talented teams while contributing to the studio's collaborative and innovative culture. This is a role where you can make a lasting impact on cities and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead assigned masterplanning and urban design projects, managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery from concept through to detailed stages.
- Design independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, integrating transport, economics, infrastructure and environmental sustainability into comprehensive urban design solutions.
- Champion the practice's values and contribute to a collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged and best practice shared.
- Build networks across the business and provide leadership by directing and supporting junior team members, inspiring and mentoring the next generation of urban designers.
- Make positive contributions to project meetings and client presentations, demonstrating confidence in coordinating and liaising with clients and consultants.
- Develop working understanding of project cost control, fee estimation and project finance, balancing commercial awareness with client relationship management.
- Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives across the practice.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or Landscape Architecture and MA in Urban Design (or equivalent).
- Proven track record leading urban development and regeneration, residential-led mixed-use masterplanning, public realm and place-led infrastructural and transport solutions.
- Project experience across the UK, Middle East, The Americas, Asia and Africa.
- Deep interest and curiosity in designing and planning sustainable and vibrant urban environments.
- Result-driven personality capable of coordinating and leading projects with limited supervision, demonstrating initiative, creativity, integrity and self-sufficiency.
- Advanced software skills with high proficiency in at least four of the following: Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, GIS software, CityEngine.
- Strong conceptual and urban strategic thinking with in-depth best-practice knowledge of city and regional development, mixed-use and residential masterplanning, urban design guidelines and development frameworks.
