A leading architecture and design practice is seeking a Project Architect to join its San Diego team. This is an excellent opportunity for a California-licensed Architect with strong technical and project delivery experience to take a leadership role across design development, construction documentation, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
The Role
The Project Architect will guide project teams through the design and technical development of projects while overseeing technical documentation through construction. The successful candidate will combine strong design and technical abilities with excellent communication, coordination, and project leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate architectural teams through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration

Develop high-quality construction documents, detailing, and technical solutions while maintaining design intent

Coordinate architectural work with structural, MEP, civil, and other consultants

Review projects for quality, code compliance, constructability, and coordination

Work directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and project leadership

Conduct site visits and prepare field observation reports

Manage RFIs, change orders, proposal requests, revisions, and other construction documentation

Assist with project staffing, scheduling, fee estimating, and other project management responsibilities

Support project close-out, including punch lists and certificates of occupancy

Coordinate with Principals and Project Managers on project status, technical issues, and project strategy
Requirements

8+ years of professional architecture experience

California Architecture License preferred

Strong experience with construction documents and construction administration

Excellent knowledge of building codes, materials, specifications, and construction detailing

Experience coordinating with governmental agencies and multidisciplinary consultants

Strong understanding of architectural project delivery and technical documentation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino or SketchUp, and Microsoft Office

Experience with Enscape, Twinmotion, 3D Studio Max, or similar rendering software preferred

LEED AP or demonstrated knowledge of sustainable design practices is a plus
