Working as a Finance & Payroll Officer, you will join the Brisbane finance team of a highly regarded, design-led professional services business. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and Financial Controller, you will support end-to-end payroll for a national workforce while managing corporate expenses, travel reconciliations and varied finance administration. You will work closely with employees, suppliers and the wider finance team, providing accurate and responsive internal customer service. This temporary-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an experienced finance professional who enjoys variety, accuracy and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and processing of end-to-end payroll
- Maintain employee payroll records and new starter information
- Review timesheets and ensure payroll compliance with legislation and company policies
- Prepare payroll reconciliations including superannuation, payroll tax and PAYG
- Respond to employee payroll enquiries and prepare employment variations
- Administer Government Paid Parental Leave
- Manage high-volume corporate credit card reconciliations
- Process employee expense claims and reconcile travel expenses
- Follow up employees and suppliers for outstanding invoices and receipts
- Investigate and resolve finance discrepancies
- Support month-end processes and wider finance activities
- Identify opportunities for process improvement
Skills and Experience
- Previous payroll experience within a medium to large organisation Experience with employee expenses, corporate credit cards or travel reconciliations
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with employees and suppliers
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience with Deltek, Micropay or similar payroll/ERP systems highly regarded
