You will act as a key design anchor, championing placemaking principles, guiding design excellence, and delivering impactful public infrastructure. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a strong opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, design, and deliver complex urban design, public domain, and green infrastructure projects from concept through to final delivery.
Manage procurement, write project briefs, and oversee external architectural and urban design consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
Provide strategic urban design input and cross-functional advice during the live construction phase of public projects.
Represent the organization's design interests when interfacing with State and Federal Government Agencies and relevant infrastructure authorities.
Produce high-quality graphic, visual, and written material to communicate complex structural concepts to technical staff, engineers, and community stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 8 years of post-graduate professional experience in Urban Design, including a proven track record in a senior capacity.
Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related design field, with eligibility for peak body registration (AIA, AILA, or PIA).
Demonstrated experience in public domain planning, urban renewal frameworks, and coordinating multi-disciplinary consultant teams.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp, backed by strong freehand testing and visualization skills.
Solid understanding of procurement, contract management, and working effectively within public sector or multi-disciplinary frameworks.
