They have collaborated with many of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands, including Four Seasons, W Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood, Auberge, Loews, and 1 Hotels, contributing to hotel and resort properties across the U.S. and abroad.Our client is seeking a Design Lead to join their NYC studio. This role is ideal for a highly skilled, detail-oriented design professional with a strong background in hospitality and high-end interiors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead interior design efforts across all project phases, from concept development through construction administration.
- Guide the design team in the selection, specification, and detailing of interior finishes, furniture, and custom elements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of FF&E and IF specifications, including hospitality brand standards and contract-grade manufacturing requirements.
- Review and approve materials, samples, and finishes (e.g., stone, tile, wood, textiles) for compliance with design intent.
- Develop custom furniture designs, including material selection, detailing, documentation, and coordination with vendors and manufacturers.
- Oversee preparation and coordination of drawing sets, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, consultants (lighting, MEP, landscape, etc.), and vendors to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Manage construction-phase activities, including reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and sample approvals.
- Create and oversee 3D renderings for internal studies and client presentations.
- Develop and deliver presentations, including concept imagery, material boards, and InDesign packages.
- Ensure alignment with studio design standards, aesthetics, and technical protocols.
- Maintain and contribute to the studio materials library and conduct ongoing product research.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry partners.
- Support project management efforts, including understanding project phases, contracts, and delivery expectations.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
- Maintain high standards of organization, communication, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
Skills & Experience
- Hybrid schedule with 2-3 days per week in-office at the Los Angeles studio.
- Degree in Architecture or Interior Design required; LEED accreditation and NCIDQ certification preferred.
- 5-8+ years of professional experience across all project phases, including construction administration.
- Experience in at least two of the following sectors: hospitality, condo developments, food & beverage, high-end residential.
- Advanced knowledge of space planning, FF&E selection, and product research.
- Strong experience designing and specifying custom furniture for commercial or hospitality environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and/or other 3D visualization tools.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, drawing sets, and FF&E specifications.
- Familiarity with industry standards, materials, and sourcing practices.
- Working knowledge of BIM workflows and design software standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple project components simultaneously.
