Senior Landscape Architect
Austin, Texas | Full-Time | In-Person
Cooper & Company is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect with exceptional design, drawing, and graphic communication skills.
We are an Austin-based landscape architecture company specializing in high-end residential design, construction, and maintenance. This is a design-focused studio position for someone capable of developing sophisticated concepts and communicating them through beautiful, highly resolved drawings and presentations.
Exceptional drawing ability is essential. Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual design, hand sketching, illustrative plans, renderings, planting design, and technical documentation.
Responsibilities
• Lead projects through conceptual design, schematic design, and design development
• Produce compelling site plans, master plans, hand sketches, perspectives, and presentation drawings
• Develop thoughtful planting, hardscape, grading, drainage, lighting, and material designs
• Create polished client presentations and clearly communicate design intent
• Translate initial concepts into accurate, buildable drawing sets
• Develop construction details and coordinate technical documentation
• Participate in client and consultant meetings
• Coordinate with the company’s construction and maintenance divisions to ensure designs are practical and perform successfully over time
• Help establish and improve internal drawing standards, details, and design processes
• Mentor junior designers and provide clear creative direction
What We’re Looking For
• A professional degree in landscape architecture
• Professional licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in Texas
• Approximately 7+ years of relevant professional experience
• Exceptional hand-drawing, drafting, rendering, and graphic presentation skills
• A sophisticated design eye with strong attention to scale, proportion, materials, and detail
• Advanced proficiency in relevant design and presentation software
• Strong knowledge of planting design and landscape construction
• Experience producing complete, coordinated drawing sets
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
• Experience with high-end residential work is strongly preferred
This is not a field-management, crew-scheduling, or subcontractor-management position. The primary focus is design leadership and the production of exceptional drawings. Occasional site visits will be required to understand existing conditions and maintain design intent.
