We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Planner to join a nationally recognized architecture and design practice with offices across the US and Internationally. This role can sit in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York, or Boston and will support work throughout the Northeast region. This hybrid role (3 days in-office) is ideal for someone who is passionate about designing high-performing healthcare environments and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from early planning through project delivery.
You'll play a key role in programming, master planning, and healthcare facility design while partnering closely with clients, clinicians, and project teams to create thoughtful, patient-centered spaces.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead healthcare planning, programming, and master planning efforts for a variety of healthcare projects.
- Work closely with clients to define project goals, operational needs, and long-term planning strategies.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, user groups, and facility assessments.
- Develop architectural programs, departmental layouts, and functional planning solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, and consultants from concept through construction documentation.
- Prepare schematic design studies and evaluate alternative planning solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, client presentations, proposals, and interviews.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet design, schedule, and budget goals.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
Experience and Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Professional architectural license preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Strong experience in healthcare planning, programming, and medical architecture.
- Knowledge of healthcare building codes, life safety requirements, and healthcare operational planning.
- Experience with functional programming, facility assessments, and space planning.
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and visualization tools such as Enscape or V-Ray.
- Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
- Experience participating in proposals and business development efforts.
- LEED Green Associate required within six months of hire; ACHA accreditation preferred.
