Senior Mission Critical Electrical Engineer

This is a role for an electrical engineer who has spent their career on the projects that matter most — data centres, mission critical facilities, and the high-reliability systems that keep the world running. A 110-year-old engineering firm with a reputation built on quality is looking for a senior PE to lead complex electrical design projects, mentor the next generation of engineers, and bring deep expertise in power distribution, redundancy, and system resilience. If you hold a TS/SCI clearance (or can obtain one) and you know your way around a Tier IV topology, this is worth your attention.

Key Responsibilities

Lead medium to large electrical design projects for mission critical environments and data centres, directing junior engineers throughout.
Design and document one-line diagrams and specifications for UPS systems, generators, medium voltage switchgear, static transfer switches, and SCADA systems for critical equipment.
Apply and work across various electrical design topologies including Tier III, Tier IV, N+1, and 2N configurations.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards — NEC, IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, and ANSI/TIA-942.
Collaborate closely with clients, design teams, and contractors, maintaining an exceptional standard of communication throughout.
Develop fee proposals, manage project budgets, and contribute to business development as required.
Mentor and train junior engineering staff, helping build the next generation of mission critical specialists.

Skills & Experience

16+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including a lead role on mission critical and/or data centre projects.
Active PE licence in the state of Maryland.
Demonstrated design experience with UPS systems, generators, medium voltage switchgear, SCADA, and complex power distribution topologies.
Proficiency in ETAP or SKM preferred; Revit experience in complex raised-floor power system environments is a bonus.
US citizenship required; possession of, or ability to obtain, government TS/SCI clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programme.
