We’re partnering with a leading, award-winning architectural and building consultancy to find a talented Senior Architect to join their creative Manchester-based team. You’ll be working on a variety of projects, helping to develop designs from brief to completion, applying your technical knowledge, and contributing to a culture of collaboration and creativity. The ideal candidate is confident, self-organised, and thrives in a supportive team setting.
You’ll play a key role in taking projects from early brief through to developed design, with real ownership and the opportunity to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of project briefs and develop them into well-resolved design proposals aligned with the RIBA Plan of Work
- Contribute to the delivery of pre-construction information and support the coordination of project outputs across design stages
- Produce thoughtful, efficient design solutions with a strong emphasis on sustainability and buildability
- Ensure designs meet UK construction regulations, British Standards, and relevant Codes of Practice
- Advise on material selection, balancing performance, cost, and aesthetic considerations
- Prepare detailed technical specifications using NBS, backed by current and reliable manufacturer information
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams through project reviews and coordination workshops
- Support the preparation of information for planning, building regulations, and building safety submissions
- Engage with statutory bodies, assist with applications, and contribute to written reports
- Attend meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and specialist stakeholders
- Work alongside the Project Lead to manage and monitor design risks
- Maintain high standards of document control and project organisation
Skills and Experience
- ARB registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years UK experience
- Proven commercial and contractual awareness
- You will ideally have cross sector experience but particularly in education sectors and multi-residential sectors.
- Advanced knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other digital imaging tools
- A minimum of two years of using Autodesk Revit
- Routine use of Newforma Project Center for managing emails, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
