Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to contribute to complex architectural projects from concept through completion. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and proven leadership in managing teams, clients, and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Help our clients achieve their goals
- Work with Interior Designers and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectives
- Seek advice and counsel from Senior Interior designers and Director of Interior Design Services as needed
- Support Interior Designers with assigned projects or activities
- Interface with all professional disciplines assigned to the project to coordinate the Interior Design work
- Work with the Director and/or Interior Designer to establish design parameters consistent with the project scope
- Prepare design documents as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development, construction documents).
- Conduct field investigations as required to understand project requirements
- Prepare building interior design studies as required
- Assist with researching building materials and systems and select appropriate items for incorporation into the building design
- Maintain a general knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, fire protection and telecom building systems; coordinate these systems with the interior design
- Prepare documents in conformance with KZF standards and quality control requirements
- Assist in the development and maintenance of interior design standards as assigned by the Director
- Attend project team meetings as required
- Assist Interior Designers with construction administration efforts, as requested
- Help to maintain the Materials Resource Library, meets with Manufacturer Representatives, and schedules Lunch and Learn presentations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design
- Experience producing Interior Design and construction documents in an A/E consulting firm
- Proficiency in REVIT (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable with a broad range of project types
- Familiarity and experience working with building codes
- Familiarity with building design and construction
- Proactive and assertive in problem solving
- Comfortable working on parallel assignments
- Comfortable working in teams and making group presentations
- Familiarity with A/E industry BIM standards a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus
- LEED certification a plus
- Good written and oral communications skills; fluent in speaking, reading and writing in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Commercial, Industrial and Mixed-Use Developments including Civic, Public Safety, Education, Healthcare, etc.
- LEED accreditation or other sustainability credentials
- Familiarity with D5, Bluebeam, or other project management tools
