A Brooklyn-based real estate development company is seeking an experienced, highly organized Interior Designer to oversee the design and execution of high-end, full-gut townhouse and brownstone renovations throughout Brooklyn.
This is a full-time, hands-on position for a designer who understands both design and construction and can manage projects from concept through completion.
Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop complete interior design concepts for high-end Brooklyn townhouses and brownstones
- Select finishes, flooring, tile, cabinetry, millwork, plumbing fixtures, lighting, paint colors, hardware, and other materials
- Prepare detailed design specifications, finish schedules, and material-placement plans
- Ensure all materials are installed and placed correctly according to approved design specifications
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Conduct regular site visits and monitor construction progress
- Manage ordering, deliveries, lead times, samples, and material approvals
- Identify and resolve design or installation issues during construction
- Maintain project schedules and ensure deadlines are met
- Perform quality-control inspections and oversee final punch-list completion
- Keep ownership updated with clear progress reports, photographs, and outstanding decisions
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional experience specifically involving Brooklyn townhouse or brownstone renovations
- Proven experience with high-end, full-gut residential renovation projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, interior finishes, material installation, and project sequencing
- Ability to read architectural drawings, floor plans, and design specifications
- Strong project-management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple active renovation projects
- Must have a valid driver’s license, drive regularly, and have reliable transportation for site visits
- Must be available for full-time, in-person work in Brooklyn
- Must provide a portfolio showing completed townhouse, brownstone, or comparable high-end residential projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with custom kitchens, bathrooms, millwork, built-ins, and historic townhouse details
- Familiarity with Brooklyn vendors, showrooms, contractors, and material suppliers
- Experience designing investment properties for resale while maintaining high-end standards and controlling costs
