Street, Waunakee, WI 53597 - Waunakee, WI 53597Position Type: Full TimeJob Summary: A Design Assistant provides both customer-facing support and behind-the-scenes coordination to help the design team run smoothly. They create a welcoming showroom experience by assisting clients, maintaining displays, and managing materials, while also supporting designers with project documentation, vendor communication, and meeting preparation. This role blends organization, customer service, and basic design knowledge to keep projects on track and ensure a polished, professional experience for clients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Showroom Support
Greet and assist clients and vendors both in person and over the phone in a professional and welcoming manner.
Maintain the showroom by ensuring displays, samples, and common areas are clean, organized, visually appealing, and reflective of current products and trends.
Manage inventory of samples, marketing materials, and office supplies, coordinating with vendors and suppliers as needed.
Design & Project Support
Provide day-to-day support to Designers and as needed, Project Managers.
Assist with updating drawings and design documentation.
Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding pricing, orders, and project schedules.
Support the planning and preparation of client meetings, including organizing materials and presentations.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of experience in customer service required.
Experience in interior design or construction-related environment preferred.
Required Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with the residential remodeling and construction process preferred.
Experience with Chief Architect and project management software is a plus.
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with an excellent driving record required.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
Customer-focused with a professional and collaborative approach.
Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office or showroom setting, with standard working conditions.
Occasional travel to job sites may require working in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, or humid environments. Ability to independently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
Primary work location is the Waunakee Remodeling showroom, with up to 20% travel throughout Dane County.
