The Textile Layout Associate is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery used to cut, shear, and slit raw materials such as rubber, plastic, and fabric according to blueprints and work orders. This role ensures precise material layout, proper machine configuration, and adherence to quality standards throughout the production process. Key responsibilities include loading parent rolls of material, installing and adjusting cutting blades, calibrating machine settings for width and speed, and performing quality inspections. The position also involves routine equipment maintenance and cross-training on industrial sewing and grommet machines to support broader production needs. |
Responsibilities |
- Machine Setup & Operation: Load parent rolls or sheets onto machines (unwinds), install blades, and adjust tension, speed, and cutting parameters.
- Layout & Cutting: Mark layout lines or positions on materials using templates, rulers, and scribes to ensure accurate cuts.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for precise dimensions, edge smoothness, and surface defects (wrinkles, errors).
- Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and replace worn blades or tools to maintain optimal machine performance.
- Documentation: Record production data, including material usage, quantities produced, and maintenance logs.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing protective gear, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities |
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience: 2+ years of working with materials in an industrial or manufacturing setting, including but not limited to: loading and unloading of material rolls, cutting material, measuring, etc.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of machine components, reading blueprints, and interpreting, measuring devices like tape measure or micrometer.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machines.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds required.
